Top 6 DIY Projects for Kids Rooms

Looking for some fun DIY projects to brighten up your kids rooms or add some fun to their play room? Read on, for our top 6 picks.

My favourite kids DIY projects and upcycles in 2023. I have so many plans for this year, I can’t wait to get started.

After 2 years of sharing rooms and putting up with a renovation, limited space, clutter and chaos in general, making their rooms special and creating fun for them was a dream and something we really prioritised. We still have a long way to go and the rooms aren’t finished but I thought I would share some of the DIY projects we did last year for them.

🤍 DIY Glamping Tents – this is a crowd favourite with the kids and they will often ask for them to be brought up for movie night or a little lounge room sleep over.

🤍 Connors Toy car storage – this was a fun project and including building a ‘trailer’ out of old VJ and upcycling a beat up old truck that was ready for the bin.

🤍Charlotte’s wardrobe – This was such a fun and rewarding project, mummy gets very excited by storage and as she’s the only one of the kids who have a wardrobe (for now) it’s definitely getting a work out. I love how the pop of peel and stick from @kmart completely transformed this flatpack.

🤍 Anyas antique desk – I actively searched for this desk on marketplace until I finally found what I was looking for. Nothing beats solid wood and I love the history etched on old furniture. I decided to paint it and I think it’s the perfect addition to her room.

🤍 Charlotte’s flower wall – I had a vision for Charlotte’s room, I wanted to create a whimsical place filled with flowers and fairies and came up with the idea of the flower wall. I found all of the flowers, fishing line and pine at @bunnings and figured out a process and I just love how it turned out.

🤍DIY linen curtains – With 3m ceilings and double windows finding affordable linen curtains was proving impossible, instead I repurposed large linen curtains I found @linenhouse They were long enough, wide enough and were already hemmed so it was the perfect solution.
