In this blog I’m going to share with you how to make your own DIY Lavender Linen Spray.

In this blog I’m going to share with you how to make your own DIY Lavender Linen Spray.

There’s nothing more relaxing than falling into a bed that has a soft scent of lavender. I would love to make my own lavender oil for this but I don’t have the space needed for the lavender farm I’ve always dreamed off.

If you’ve been following along for a while you will know that I have recently started to harvest the lavender plants in my garden, it’s still a work in progress and as I harvest more I hope to share more DIY uses for them.

Benefits of Lavender

If you google ‘health benefits of Lavender’ you will find a comprehensive list outlining the benefits of Lavender from bloggers like myself, medical professionals, naturapaths and so much more. I am not a health professional nor am I offering any certainty of the benefits, what I can share is my love of lavender.

Not only does it smell great but there are a number of uses such as;

  • A natural insect repellant
  • Home decor, you can use the stems in floral arrangments
  • Cooking & Baking
  • Skincare and home remedies and sprays
  • If you have enough lavender you can create your own oil
  • And the list goes on.

One thing that most agree on is the calming effect lavender has so using it as a linen spray is a wonderful way to freshen up your linens whilst creating a calming aroma in your home.

How To Make DIY Lavender Spray

Ingredients:

Place the distilled water in a vessel that pours easily. A small pitcher or measuring cup that pours will work great.

Add the alcohol and essential oil. Stir well.

Using a small funnel, pour the mixture into your glass spray bottles. Cap tightly and shake well.

Notes:

  • Witch hazel or vodka can be substituted for the alcohol. Just use whatever you have on hand. The alcohol is added to help keep the essential oil dissolved, but I still shake the bottle before spraying.
  • Distilled water is recommended because it is chemical free. Bottled water or even tap water can also be used.
  • Feel free to make a double batch because this spray stays smelling amazing for as long as the bottle lasts.

This linen spray would make a wonderful gift, it’s easy and the recipe can be doubled if needed. I use it on the kids pillows and rugs before bed as well as the couch in the evenings when it’s time to wind down and relax. You can also use it to freshen stored linens towels.

I’m excited to share some more lavender recipes and inspiration with you over the coming months.

I realised relatively quickly that I needed some sort of process; after a little trial and error I finally settled on a rythm and after about an hour of stringing flowers I finally started to like how it was turning out.

I’ll have to finish it in place so will give you an update on the final installation once painting has been completed.
